Callippe Preserve is the newest golf course in the east bay, having just opened in 2005. Nestled in the valley with verdant hills and majestic vistas, it is a beautiful course and one of my favorites. This par 72 course has 5 sets of tee boxes with yardage ranging from 6,748 to 4,788. As someone who doesn't yet have distance I especially appreciate the advantage of the forward tees, but ladies don't think it will be easy! Callippe is a demanding course for all levels of play. The course is named for the Callippe Silverspot butterfly, an endangered species, and there are several protected areas on the course. Hit your ball in to one of them and you'll need to drop - just one more obstacle to add to the creeks and strategically placed bunkers.
Green fees for Callippe vary, depending on the day and time. Pleasanton residents get a discount. Callippe has several unique programs such as a solorider golf cart and a shadow golf program. There is also a large driving range, lessons, and a clubhouse with restaurant. Callippe offers many special events throughout the year. For more information or to book a tee time go to Callippe Preserve Golf.
There is a master planned development surrounding the course with 34 custom home sites, several of which are still available. If you've ever dreamed of building your own golf course home, now is the time! Prices have dropped significantly and there are currently a few lots of approximately 1/2 acre each on the market ranging in price from $649K to $999K. There are also several large homesites (from 1 acre to nearly 2.5 acres) at a nearby "green" community, from $800K to $1.1M. If you're not up for building your own, there are a few homes for sale within a short distance of Callippe. It's a great south Pleasanton area with large lots and a country feel. Homes currently available range from a 3/2 for $699K to a 5/4 for $1.199M. To search for homes in Pleasanton near Callippe, go to Pleasantion homes for sale.

It's hard to think about golf with all the rain we've been getting. But pretty soon the sun will be shining, the hills will be green, and it will be time to get out and play! Canyon Lakes golf club is a wonderful 18 hole public course in San Ramon. It is nestled in the foothills with spectacular views of Mt. Diable and the San Ramon Valley. This 6,300 yard par 71 course has wide fairways, but plenty of water and sand to test your abilities. The 14th hole, a 500 yard par 5 is especially challenging, not only for duffers like me but even for single digit handicap golfers!
